Here is a great thread for you to read http://www.pprune.org/archive/index.php/t-99365.html Japan isn't very GA friendly and they aren't FAA controlled, you do know that right? Finding a Part141 (not the same under JCAB. You can expect about $600/hr for a 172 rental. You might be able to use a USAF Aero Club http://www.yokotasupport.com/page.php?31 Good Luck

Flight schools in Japan are prohibitively expensive, even by European or Australian standards. If you are American, it will cost 3-4 times what it costs here. Not worth it.
